Duck Island Cannon Works manufactures custom carriages to fit your existing barrel or can supply you with a barrel through RBG Cannons. We specialize in naval and seacoast carriages and offer several types of carriage styles such as English, Muller, Spanish and Marsley.

Construction Highlights

• Lumber is select kiln dried white oak. We use this material for its strength and beauty. We also use teak, mahogany and ash where appropriate or as the customer specifies.
  
  
• Trunion caps are heavy cast brass or bronze. They are attached with J bolts that are through-bolted for strength. The front bolts use tapered keys or t-bolts for easy removal of the barrel.
  
  
• Hardware used is brass/bronze or iron. We polish the brass to bring out its beauty or blacken the brass to age it. Most of our hardware is custom made. The iron hardware is etched, primed and painted to prevent rusting.
  
  
• We believe that a carriage should be functional and beautiful enough to use as a decoration in your house. We use aniline dyes to bring out the beauty of the wood and an application of blended oils and varnish for protection. If your carriage will spend its time outside, we will use a different blend that adds more protection.
